How to find a group in the PAA

Why is a PAA group not the same as a pug
So, first off, welcome to the Penny Arcade Alliance. One of our main policies is to attempt to have only mature players in our alliance. So that our members can safely group together and not have to worry about ninjas, disrespect, or arguments over gear rolling. Sadly, our basic rules have shown problems when dealing with endgame raiding, but they are still present in 5 man and many 10 man raids.
Need or Greed
Here is the basic way we have always handled rolling on loot. First a basic definition of the two terms
- Need: Need means that you require a piece of gear to wear that is an upgrade to what you are using now. If no one else can use, and the party agrees, you may also need to use as an upgrade for an off specced piece of gear (i.e. a resto druid rolling need on a piece of tanking gear). Also, this applies to recipes that you are specced to use for a profession. It is a general courtesy to ask before clicking need, it might be easier to ask for forgiveness, but it's alot harder to explain it to your officer when you get complaints from your party members.
- Greed: Everything else. If you are an enchanter and want to DE the piece you roll greed, if you want to vendor it because you "Need" the gold you roll greed, if you "Need" that gem for a socket roll greed.
How you should roll
On BOE items or BOP items when no enchanter is present
Everyone rolls greed, if you need the item for use roll need.
On BOP items when an enchanter is present
Everyone passes, the enchanters roll greed, if you need the item you roll Need. This allows the enchanter to loot and disenchant the item, without potentially screwing someone over that actually needs the item for usage. The enchanter then either hands out the shard then, or at the end of the run (at the party's discretion). The ideal way to do this is to have the enchanter type /random # (# being the number of party members) and handing out the shards according to their party list ordering. Mind you that your party list will not always match the enchanters, since the sorting will be different on their screen than on your screen.
How to handle problems with your group
Do's:
- Try to work out the problem within your group
- If your problem can not be solved screen shot your chat logs and speak to one of your guild's officers
Don'ts:
- Become argumentative in your group to the point that you are representing yourself or your guild badly
- Take the discussion to public channels I.E guild chat or /paa
- Verbally attack your fellow PAA members, especially if they do not agree with you
Using our channels
We have two public channels for requesting groups, PAALFG and PENNYARCADELFG.
The difference between these two channels is that PAALFG is restricted to characters currently in a PAA guild, and PENNYARCADELFG is a channel available to anyone.
Please understand that not everyone is looking for a group for the same thing you are at the same time you are all the time. This is especially true for lower leveled instances and instances that provide less rewards for continued use (i.e. lackluster gear drops). Please try and keep general chat out of the LFG channels and in the general chat channels.
Simple *LFG/M Level # (class) for (heroic/normal) (instance name/s) is more than enough information usually.
