Who are the Knights?
The Knights of Arcadia, formed long before the mists of the ancient past had cleared (Aka August 2005), is a guild founded around the love of a webcomic: Penny Arcade. Since then, although its members still maintain their love for Gabe and Tycho, it has evolved into one part of one of the most powerful Guild Alliances in the entire Realm of Dark Iron. Today, it continues its ancient traditions of nubery, butsecks, and dargon slaying.
Leadership and Guild Ranks
The membership of the Knights are broken into nine distinct proper classes, or ranks.
The Enlisted Men
Eunuch: The lowest rank. Due to their deformities, Eunuchs lack the ability to speak in /g, and may only listen until promoted. This is used for Three purposes: A)New Recruits start at this rank. They are promoted as soon as the glitchy guild code stops bugging. B)Humor. It is quite a common site to see a member in good standing make a joke about an officer, only to have his testicles swiftly snatched away by the /gdemote command. You need not worry, as your position will soon be restored. C) Punishment. If you are in this position as a punishment, there will most likely be a note in your guild note, and also most likely a letter in your mail box. If you do not understand why you are being punished, contact an officer.
Neophyte: Even the greatest of Champions start somewhere, and that somewhere is the Neophyte rank. This rank is for Alts level 1-9, and all characters level 10-19. All ranks above and including neophyte may speak in /g. Also, all Sardas are to remain at this rank, no matter their level.
Oathsworn: Having proved their talent in battle and their dedication to the Knighthood, persons who reach the level of 20 or higher are promoted to the rank of Oathsworn.
Bloodsworn: Having further proved their combat expertise, persons who attain the level of 40 or higher are promoted to the rank of Bloodsworn. As a reward for their skill and dedication, all Bloodsworn and above have the privelage of altering guild notes.
Lifesworn: Surpassing the strength of mere mortals, and proving their undying love for the Knighthood, persons who have built themselves so as to be level 50 or above are promoted to the rank of Lifesworn.
Soulsworn: Having proven time and again their skill, valor, cool head under pressure, dedication to the Alliance in general, and general power levelling ablities, all those who attain the level of 70 and have been deemed ready for Raiding are granted the rank of Soulsworn. As such, they are given the privelage of having one alt in the guild.
FiteManzsworn: Awarding of this rank comes in recognition of a Knight's insatiable thirst for the blood of our sworn enemy, the Horde.
Raidsworn: Those members who have proven themselves time and again when facing the darkest enemies of Azeroth an the Outlands are permitted access to the materials beholden by the Knights, so that they may yet further themselves in their quest to purge this land of evil.
The Officer Caste
Lorekeeper: Having proven their dedication to the Guild, their helpfulness to the other officer and their other guildmates, and having caught the eye of the Palatine, a member of any skill level may be promoted to the rank of Lorekeeper. Members of this sacred group may promote those who deserve promotion, as well as invite new members into the guild. Second in power only to the Palatine, Lorekeepers have agreed to take on the terrible burden of administering justice.
Palatine: The most powerful position in the whole of the Knighthood, the Palatine is the be all and end all in matters of life, death, and nubery.
The Conduct of a Knight
Part the First: Regarding Other Knights
- 1) Don't Be a Dick.
- 2) Need Before Greed.
- 3) Assist your Guildies when they need help.
- 4) If you feel the need to curse, please do so in good taste. The only hard-and-fast rule when it comes to this is No Racial Slurs - everything else is up to the officers' discretion.
- 5) Keep yourself up to date on the goings-on on the forums.
- 6) Politics and Religion are for the most part off-limits in /g, for the sake of everyone's sanity.
- 7) Seriously, we mean it: Don't Be A Dick.
If you should at any time have conflict with another member of KOA, bring it up privately with an officer. DO NOT bring it up in a public place.
Part the Second: Regarding the Penny Arcade Alliance
The entire Penny Arcade Alliance counts as your guildies. Although their green chat may not be the same as your green chat, you all still march under the same banner, albeit to the beat of a different drummer.
If you should have a problem with a member of another guild in the Alliance, bring it up privately with either an officer of that guild, or with a KOA officer. DO NOT bring it up in a public place.
Part the Third: Regarding The Rest of the Alliance and Exploits
1) Ninjaing of an item is never allowed. 2) Illegal exploits of game mechanics are never allowed. 3) If you do not agree with how a group you are in is progressing, you are free to leave it at any time. Do not do anything to disrupt the group, as your actions are a reflection on the entire PAA.
Part the Fourth: Regarding Panda Attack and Djork
They are our friendly rivals in this world. While it is fully anticipated that you may wish to kill them on sight (and this is in no way discouraged), do hold some amount of respect. If a Panda attempts to signal that he does not wish to fight (i.e. /wave, /hug, /dance, etc.), let him go on his way. Do not corpse camp them. If you have an issue with a Panda, do not post about it on their boards, rather, attempt to contact one of their officers via PMs on their forums, or AIM or some other form of out-of-game communication.
Part the Fifth: Regarding Leaving the Knights
- 1) Involuntarily
Should your behavior be deemed not fit for a Knight, you will be forcibly removed from the guild. This does not necessarily mean you are not welcome in the PAA, but that you are not considered what we were looking for. That being said, all other officers in the PAA will be informed off why you were removed, so expect any actions you commited while in the Knights to 'haunt' you in other guilds in the PAA.
On occasion, the rosters are purged of characters that have not been played in 2 or more months, and you may be removed for prolonged periods of inactivity. If this should happen, you are welcome to reapply as a new member.
- 2) Voluntarily
If you plan on leaving the Knights for whatever reason, please be sure to inform one of the officers ahead of time as a matter of common courtesy.
Purging the Land of Our Enemies
- 1) Raid sign up forums can be found here. Raid-sign up tool can be found here. Raids may be posted in both, either, or neither section, so if you wish to raid, it is highly suggested that you monitor both sections.
- 2) Ventrillo, the currently used Voice-Chat system for the PAA, is available here for download on all platforms. Please see the guild information tab for current Ventrillo settings.
- 3) CT_RaidAssist can be found here. Most raids require CT_RaidAssist, as it has many useful tools for a raid leader, and only functions properly if everyone else in te raid has it. Full CT package not required!
- 4) Someone needs to discuss what our "DKP" system is, as we're no longer actively running MC/Ony/BWL.
- 6) Level your First Aid skill to 375, and always have plenty of Bandages. Seriously, Bandages are God's direct gift to non-tanks. Be sure to bring any other consumables that you personally desire to use with you as well. Always assume that the raid will NOT provide consumables for you.
- 7) Do not assume you will be summoned to a raid. Always try to get there on your own.
- 8) Be prompt in your arrival at the instance gate, and be fully repaired, with all reagents, equipment, keys, etc. required.
- 9) If you are an engineer, bring a repair bot. When a bot is dropped, everyone else should tip the engineer. Also, when a repair bot is dropped, everyone should repair on it, regardless of their current armor condition.
- 10) If you must leave early, inform the leader ahead of time, and try to find a replacement. If you must go /afk, again inform your leader, use your afk tag, and be as quick as possible.
- 11) Always listen closely to the leader's directions.
Knightly Resources
This is a guild bank run by Ihva. If you desire to withdraw from the bank, send the bank an in-game mail listing what you require. If you require a loan from the bank the procedure is the same. Keep in mind that all bank loans MUST be repaid in a timely fashion.
Becoming Knighted
Part the First: Prerequisites
- 1) Applicant must be a fan of the Penny-Arcade webcomic.
- 2) Applicant must have reached level 10 or higher.
- 3) Applicant must have a player who is currently in the Knights who is willing to vouch for their character as a person, as well as that they have a basic understanding of their class.
- 4) Have already read this thread in its entirety.
Part the Second: Process
The application process itself is simple. First, the player who is vouching should send a tell to or in some other way communicate the idea to one of the officers that they are vouching for someone. Secondly, the applicant should also contact the same officer, and inform the officer of the applicant's desire to join, as well as the name of the Voucher.
If at all possible, do not contact an officer that is in the middle of an instance run. If that is completely unavoidable, inform the officer you are contacting as such, lest you face the full wrath of an angry raider. Furthermore, be patient while dealing with officers in an instance, as they may be unable to respond at times.
