Founding

Originally founded by Alandria, intended to be a small social guild before Gabe posted on Penny-Arcade.com about our PVP prowess, coining the term "Pipe toting mother fuckers". After that the guild went from around 30 members to 400 in under 2 weeks. After about 2-3 months we dropped back down to around 250 members where we have consistently stayed since then.

Alandria left for a short period late December of our first year leaving his second in command Eakers to deal with Guild Leader duties. Alandria returned for about 2-3 months but then chose to permanently promote Eakers because of RL time conflicts with playing WoW.

Honor

Shortly after forming, the Dojo members agreed to form a guild that followed basic honorable principles. Including behavior not normally displayed in MMOs.

People who have stolen loot from other Dark Iron Alliance members have not only been kicked from the guild but also the Dojo has attempted to reimburse those who were the victims. Also, the Dojo has long had a policy against the griefing of low leveled horde.

For a time there were also some minor behavior rules in guild chat as well. While not strict in actual content, it pushed more for civil behavior among members. Specifically banning the usage of noob and other similar terms used to insult people just for not being members as long.

Dojo Culture

Scapegoats past and present

Scapegoating has always played a significant role in the Dojo. Examples include :

  • (Tre's cat bites him causing him to forget that he is autorunning into Gehennas) Treila: Fucking Eakers!
  • My 15th attempt and I'm STILL 374 tailoring! Typical Ohmss!

  1. Eakers - The first official scapegoat, also our previous guild leader.
  2. Ohmss - Reluctantly replaced Eakers a few months after Eakers disappeared.
    1. Some Dojo members argue that Eakers is still the true reason for all bad things in the world.

Dojo Raids

Raid Mavintyre

Raid Leader: Corymatsu/Damacus

History/Info: The first Dojo run raid! Wrecked Zul'Gurub back in the day. This was a PG-13 run so no potty mouth in vent. Never saw a Fang of the Faceless. Poor Mavinzel. This raid retired right before the Burning Crusade expansion hit.

Status: *RETIRED*

Raid The Fridge

Raid Leader: Fizzbang and Brambt

History/Info: The Dojo run Molten Core/Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj raid! This was the biggest Dojo raid to date and it blew through MC. Ragnaros was killed pre-sons on only his second downing. Many of today's top Penny Arcade Alliance raiders started here. Post BC this raid became a Karazahn raid but later retired due to some players switching guilds and some quitting World of Warcraft altogether. Two legendaries were also awarded with a Thunderfury to the main tank Veela, and a Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros to Ohmss.

Wasted Knights

Raid Leader: Huladdachnk

History/Info: Middle of the week Karazahn run by mostly Dojo!

Status: Runs Zul'Aman on Tuesdays and Karazahn on Wednesdays.

Medivh's Uncouth Dinner Guests

Raid Leader: Ontos

History/Info: Ontos' efforts to bring a kickass Karazhan to the middle of the week!

Status: Runs on Wednesdays and finishes up on Sundays.

CTS All Stars

Raid Leader: Damacus/Crackin

History/Info: Many of the "All Stars" from Raid Mavintyre have joined up to gear new alts and 70's for the Dojo! There are several ringers in this raid, but that just makes it even more fun!

Status: Runs Karazhan on Fridays.

An Intense Experience!

Raid Leader: Ontos

History/Info: The first big Dojo run raid since Raid the Fridge and the first after the Burning Crusade release! Ontos is leading this 25 man raid to destroy one nasty Gronn Lord!

Status: Runs Gruul's Lair on Sundays.

The Leftovers

Raid Leader: Daarguard and Staghmar

History/Info=This raid was initially started by Staghmar and Carthris looking for a late night Karazhan. After the first week or two, Carthris became unable to make the raid to to a changing schedule. Daarguard took over co-ordination of the raid. It ran very successfully for several months. The raid had difficulty keeping a constant supply of people and was eventually disbanded when Zul'Aman went live and Staghmar started a Zul'Aman raid during the same timeframe.
