Megiddo

Level: 70

Class: Mage

Spec: Arcane/Fire

Professions: Alchemist / Herbalist

Guild: Exuberance

Overview

Megiddo is a Human main character who is rank Intuition in the guild Exuberance on the Dark Iron server. He was created in early April 2006 after nubbing around as a hunter named Velcorinth on the Draka server. Megiddo began life in the World of Warcraft universe after acquiring a job in a place called Texas and becoming friends with Lura, who was also interested in experimenting with the hip new MMORPG that all the kids were into in those days. The mage class was chosen due the positive impression made by another mage AoE grinding worgen.

After playing Megiddo and WoW for almost two years, he would never describe himself as an elite player. More likely, he would call himself a "mature casual" gamer. He prefers to play on his own schedule and reserves time to honor real world commitments such as cooking and scooping cat litter. However, due to gaming experience with other MMORPGs and a gaming career that goes back to 1984, he is much more adaptable than the typical casual gamer. He is not particularly competitive and typically does not engage in competitive player versus player combat on his mage. Preferring player versus environment encounters, Megiddo is most involved with questing. Weeks before he installed The Burning Crusade expansion, for example, Megiddo focused on becoming Exalted with Darnassus for no reason other than to purchase a nightsaber mount. The endeavor involved completing every possible low-level Night Elf quest and turning in copious amounts of cloth. Additionally, Megiddo has been known to raid. Before TBC, Megiddo had attended runs through Zul'Gurub, Molten Core, and the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj (AQ20). He was a regular member of the CTS Dojo's Raid the Fridge weekly run through Molten Core for several weeks. Despite his preference for PvE, he will sometimes take up arms against other players. He has been known to appear in defense of the towns of Auberdine, Darkshire, Lakeshire, and Sentinel Hill in a the manner of a rare spawn with shitty drops. He also participated in the world-crashing Everything Must Die event, assisting with the assaults upon Orgrimmar, Brill, and Undercity.

Having specced Frost/Arcane from level 10 through 69, Megiddo had honed his crowd controlling skills at the expense of maximizing the rate of damage per second. At level 69, he respecced to Elementalist (Fire damage talents with Frost CC talents), which he maintained for some time until selling his soul and respeccing to full on Fire. As a fire mage, Megiddo lost what he thought was his best asset to partying in exchange for joining the DPS race; a race that Megiddo had despised as so many new mages, who were rolled for TBC expansion, were only interested in ranking highly on the DPS charts, as if they were scoreboards, without any consideration for the group's ability to tank or heal through aggro-stealing. Megiddo dutifully filled in DPS slots in early visits to Karazhan when Karazhan was still new, but primarily grinded money for his alts. After a long break from steady maging, Megiddo respecced Arcane/Fire and enjoyed this spec for several months. He is currently experimenting with different talent builds.

The boundaries of his mode of play were stretched when he offered to organize a 10-man weekly raid through Karazhan for people who had missed out on raiding or who were beginning to raid again after a break. The run began in October 2007. The raid was fraught with the stresses and strains usually associated with running a weekend raid that commenced at 8:00pm Server Time, did not have three static healers, had no official raid leader, and included several static raiders who'd never raided before. The raid came to a end when Megiddo had had all he could stand and he couldn't stand no more in January 2008; no replacement could be found to organize the run. Since then, Megiddo has resumed the simple life of grinding experience, reputation, and honor while enjoying the quests that expand upon the lore of the game and pay cash.

Kalvinus got his rocks off in the 30s bracket of the Warsong Gulch battleground, where his humungous belly laugh could be heard regularly as he interrupted warlock fears. The most difficult instance he has tanked is Shadow Labyrinth. Kalvinus leveled using the Arms talent tree primarily and promptly respecced Protection after dinging 70. Araratu is Megiddo's second alt on the Dark Iron server created around August 2006. Araratu is played with more interest given to fun and frivolity than maximizing the character's capacity to do massive damage or ganking. Araratu uses daggers because she enjoys the classical rogue archetype. She is specced for Assassination because it sounds cool and is focused on applying a much poison as possible to her targets while chasing and backstabbing them. Augosten is Megiddo's fourth alt and his only alt capable of significant healing ability. Megiddo also needed some respite from high-stress end-game play. By level 15, Augosten's primary goal was to attain an exalted reputation with Darnassus by level 40. This mission was accomplished by level 33. Thence, Augosten has sworn to avoid Ashenvale whenever possible. Augosten is also Megiddo's first serious alt not to be a member of Exuberance. After the customary offering of pants, Augosten was admitted into the Disciples of Divx guild.
